Top of the Morning! This is the Birdie Brief, where the news rolls out smoother than a putt across a freshly cut green on a Sunday morning. (Too bad it’s Monday)

Let’s tee it off - Here’s what we got for you today:

  • An eagle to win the WWT Championship and to drive the battle against Cancer

  • El Tigre’s Course hosted it’s first PGA Tour event

  • Rahm pulls out of TGL….for LIV?

2024 Masters Countdown to first tee shot

An Emotional Win for Eric Van Rooyen💪

Van Rooyen sinks a 16-foot putt for eagle on the par-5 18th to seal his second win on the PGA tour since his first in 2021 at the Barracuda Championship.

Van Rooyen got to take 1.5 big Ms home and racked up 500 FedEx Cup points from his win at Tiger’s El Cardonal, Diamante.

"Every shot out there today was for him". Van Rooyen dedicated his win to his best friend Jon, battling stage IV cancer. 🙏Here is his GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jon-allie-trasamar

In contention was Matt Kuchar (Koooch) and Camilo Villegas each shooting 66, but Van Rooyen's relentless back-nine charge, peppered with birdies, secured his victory.

Well, well, well - he’s one of us! On Saturday, Kuchar lost his 6 stroke lead after quadruple-bogeying the 15th , then bogeying the par-3 16th. Ouch. I don’t know which stung more, this? or when he tried to underpay his caddie $5,000 after a $1.3M victory.👀

Tiger the Artist🧑‍🎨, Tiger the Architect👷‍♂️

Well, to no surprise this man has mastered all facets of the game. Trust Tiger Woods to not just play the game but redefine it with El Cardonal at Diamante, the alluring host venue for the World Wide Technology Championship.

As one of the, if not the greatest iron player in history, Woods has meticulously crafted a golf course that challenges all types of approach shots.

Nestled along the stunning west coast of Mexico, El Cardonal marks a significant shift for the tournament, relocating after a 16-year stint in Riviera Maya.

This par-72 layout spanning 7,452 yards boasts a balanced mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, beckoning players to test their skills on some of the tour’s largest greens and expansive fairways.

I personally got to play this course. Shot well over 100 playing tees I shouldn’t have been playing, but wow is it beautiful.

Rahm to LIV? or just wants to LIVe at home🤷

The recent discussion surrounding John Rahm's decision to step back from the TGL has stirred up quite a buzz in the golfing community. Speculations about a potential shift to the LIV Golf League have raised questions about Rahm's future plans.

While some understand his need for a breather, considering his family commitments, others have pointed out the logistical challenges of balancing an additional league with his already demanding schedule, travelling between Arizona and Florida on a weekly basis.

That’s our big boy brain thinking … it could also just be he noped out because he didn’t want to devote a significant chunk of his time to a golf simulator🤷.
